Reflective Essay
The Multi-Genre Project as a whole was a success in many ways. We thoroughly enjoyed the chance to be creative. It definitely took a lot of hard work and time from my partners and me. We all agreed that more time to go over the project as a whole would've better prepared us. Pushing back some of the dates items had to be due would've helped with that. Overall the project was easier to do since we picked an author we were familiar with.
My partners and I agreed that we would've liked to see the project more broad to American authors instead of it being narrowed down only British authors. We acknowledged the fact that the projected was based on British literature so we picked the well known author, J. K. Rowling. This was a great choice considering we had read the books and saw the movies.
We ran into the dilemma of agreeing on what artifacts to choose. We finally decided on a cartoon, an obituary, a collage, and a wanted poster. The part of the project that was most difficult for us was getting our artifacts and such onto the actual website itself. Building the website was very confusing and time consuming as well. The research essay was challenging too.
We concluded that the project was harder to do on an app and that it would have been more convenient if we could do it on paper. We also feel that the project would've been just as successful without the research essay. It would've been an advantage if our teacher was more knowledgeable about the technology aspect of the project. Although our teacher was a huge help with finding useful information.
The project was definitely a learning experience. Along the way we learned a lot about J. K. Rowling and her personal life. We also liked how to learn to build a website.
I hope that when people look at our website, they gain a sense of insight into the Harry Potter series that they hadn't known before, and that they learn more about JK Rowling's journey upon writing these novels.
